I recently discovered the Marvel series for myself and am already a huge fan. I actually wanted to buy Disney + so I don't have to watch the films on any website. Unfortunately, my parents do not allow me to buy Disney + which is why I have to watch the films online on some website. I can only legally watch the films that are available on sky and netflix. Now I've come to guardians of the galaxy and can't find it anywhere. Not even online. Now I wonder if I have to watch Guardians of the Galaxy to understand the rest of the films. Of course I would watch it someday but I wonder if I can watch the rest of the Marvel movies without watching this movie. I'm happy about every answer. But please don't hack me because I watch the films illegally on the internet. I just have no other option and I love the Marvel movies so I don't want to wait for my parents to finally buy Disney +.

The Guardians of the Galaxy films are only important from the film Avengers: Infinity War. So you can theoretically skip the two films for now, but you should have seen them before Avengers Infinity War and Edgame. Because that's where the characters appear.
So if you can, you should see them before that. Because then you already know the characters and understand some jokes better.
So they are not important to survival to understand the plot. However, there's a lot of information (especially in Part 1) that can be used for Infinity War and Endgame.
In Infinity War and Endgame, the characters from Guardians of the Galaxy also play an important role.
So in terms of the chronological order you can skip them for now, but I recommend you to watch at least part 1 before Infinity War and Endgame.
