Punisher Netflix?

My question is, why was the family killed by the Punisher?

I have now completely looked through the series and know who it was but not why you did it.

They were caught in a shootout between two gangs in the crossfire and were apparently shot inadvertently. That explains Frank in Daredevil season 2.

But in the series in netflix it says that his best friend was to blame and he had nothing to do with gangs…

* his best friend was also with the Marines that's why it didn't seem all that.

At Daredevil it was a gang and the Punisher seemed to have another reason 🤔
