In terms of series?
Netflix is better. You have the greater choice for less money and can look wherever and whenever you want.
Is not the quality better on DVD or Blu-ray?
Of course it depends.
Netflix only offers a limited number of series. Especially Netflix originals.
But it is cheaper than if you would buy a DVD for each series.
For me, Netflix is worth it because I like many series there, and they only look once and then never again. For a DVD would not really worth it.
Unless you want to put it on the shelf or what…
What is a DVD or Blu-ray worth?
For series "Netflix" is definitely worth more. For DVD's, you have to buy a whole season. You look at a vlt two times… At Netflix is getting more and more and you only have to pay your monthly fee. It's also in HD, which does not make a DVD. You would need BlueRay and that is even more expensive. DVD is long dead, my friend. Streaming is the future, hardware disks are what collectors…
For one thing, when you're on the road, where you have no or only bad Internet. You can also watch a DVD offline at any time.
Or if you want something material, something to touch, so to speak.
I have that with computer games. Have a whole shelf full of games, which I find "cooler" than just having everything virtually. Therefore, I have no Steam, Origin or similar.
For books, it's similar to me. E-books I find rude. It's much nicer to read in a real book than on a monitor.
Since netflix always offers only a "small" selection of series and "my" series rarely or only a few are represented, I often prefer dvds. It has no problem with bad internet, it looks good on the shelf and there are some extras on the dvds like patzer, cut scenes, comments and often much more. But dvds I often get only in series, which I like very much and know exactly that I will look at it several times
Two different systems addressing different target groups.
The media to put on shelf you buy more because you want to keep something. Either because you are a fan or want to watch it several times. There you have something. And can also watch offline.
You use Netflix because you just want to watch something and you do not have to have it. When it's gone, it's gone.
The one does not exclude the other. Possibly. Complement yourself.
If you want to compare something, then buy digital videos (Amazon, Google) or DVD / Blu-Ray. One has the advantage of mobility, flexibility and quick availability and the other of the extras and possibly the better picture quality (if you're so picky). However, you still need a player and you always have to get up.
And is not the selection much smaller?
