Upgrade Ambilight to recommend?

Is it worth it to retrofit Ambilight? Is there a way that you can retrofit Ambilight and still use Netflix with his TV? I've seen in a video that someone has upgraded Ambilight but could not use Netflix and that it has only worked on an Android TV. But if you have a TV with WebOS, what do you do and of course you want to use Netflix and Ambilight at the same time?

Ambilight was invented by Phillips to optically conceal the weak contrasts of their TV sets… I do not like it at all
