Bypass the country lock, in US Netflix you have a much larger selection of films and series that are just not licensed for the German market
With VPN you are connected to a router from another country, so VPNs are not illegal. Because that's like you're supposedly in the USA. The disadvantage of VPN is that most VPNs are chargeable, and you have to pay a subscription if you want to continue using VPN, otherwise you get a test version and after the end of the test version you can no longer use VPN at no cost. But that is different from VPN to VPN.

Every now and then I have a look with VPN. Is there e.g. The series "Extras" by and with Ricky Gervais on US Netflix… And you have to watch it in English anyway! 😜

So if it says on Netflix that you are not allowed to use a VPN there, then I would rather not risk it in your place. But all I can say is that we have used VPN on Disney + several times and the account lock is still not there.
