A brief explanation in advance. I'm temporarily staying with my cousin in a small apartment until I move. Unfortunately, it only has DSL2000 and the whole thing in my apartment downstairs via FritzBox Powerline. Means: very, very slow Internet via LAN and WLAN (screenshot in the appendix).
HD television via Zattoo, Sky, Netflix, etc. Is not clear at all. Absolutely laggy. The same when playing League of Legends on the PC. Now to my question:
1) Does anyone have experience with the Telekom Speedbox? They offer 100GB per month for around 35 euro + Huawei 4G Router 3 Pro. Without term. Is such a prepaid model.
2) I mainly need the whole thing for gaming (LoL) and in the evening to watch TV via Zattoo. At the weekend maybe Bundesliga via Sky and only until I move (about 2-3 months).
Do you think I can get there with 100GB a month? If someone has experience or has other ideas, feel free to write.
1.) If the reception is good, the Internet works very well over the cellular network.
2.) Gambling does not need any bandwidth, this works without problems with good reception. Also has a very similar ping. But 100GB is not very much for daily HD video streaming. Do the math for yourself. How many hours a day do you consume streaming services? A 1080p stream is around 6MBit / s bandwidth. Now you multiply that by the number of seconds you use it per month and divide by 8. And with an hour a day that would be e.g. 81GB for streaming only.
I haven't had any experience with the Telekom Speed Box, but I think a temporary internet stick / router is a good thing. For a while I had a stick with par MB, but that was every day, because I noticed that the data volume disappears quickly even without active use, just as a note.
I don't know how much League uses, but Netflix is definitely not going to be low (you can probably download the episodes to another device with the slow Wi-Fi a few hours in advance to watch them).
Here is my internet usage for the last 30 days, I also used the PC a lot every day. League is not shown, but VALORANT as a comparison.
The data packets are kept as small as possible, so it's really not much.
Hope I could help!
May I ask how many hours a day you are at the PC? Because I have slightly different values. 2183 to be exact, and I have the feeling that it was a "weak" month.
Depends on the day, of course a lot more on the weekend, otherwise 3 - 4 hours during the week? Of course, not always valorant, you can't apply that to the whole month, but it gives you an idea, I think.
According to another question () 80mb in an hour, but the question is from 4 years.
It is of course super difficult to judge whether the data volume of 100 GB would be sufficient for you.
I really can't judge that, since streaming and gaming already require a lot of data volume.
Have you checked in advance how cellular coverage is from us at your cousin's address?
regards
Rebekka H.
Thank you for your message. Where can I check this? Do you have a link for me?
With 2.26Mbit download it becomes difficult to watch FullHD video.
And whether 100GB of data volume per month is enough for you depends on how often you use the Internet. So at least I watch YouTube more times a day and use an average of 130GB data volume per month.
One hour of YouTube takes 1GB. If you keep watching HD videos, it's over quickly.
Gambling itself doesn't matter much. But if you e.g. Downloading games can quickly be over 100GB away.
There are also various updates for Windows, drivers, games… 100GB can then be gone quickly.
I'll help out briefly: https://www.telekom.de/...netzausbau
Fortunately, YouTube runs somewhat over Wi-Fi. The 100GB would actually only be needed for LOL, Discord, Home Office and at the weekend the Bundesliga.
Thank you for the experience!
Thank you! I have 4/5 bars and LTE with Telekom via mobile phone. Sometimes also 3/5.
2) Sounds good, as I said, it is primarily for LoL and Discord. Video streaming runs fairly smoothly over the old Vodafone WLAN.
