Was Ymir's death unnecessary?

I never really watched AoT (since I first wanted to play the game and then wanted to watch the anime from there but Netflix only had season 1 online, which I did see). My sister has the mangas I had flipped through.

You don't really see Ymir's death, but the character guide says that Ymir passed away.

How and why did she die now? (It was confirmed in an ingerwiev that Ymir and Christa were a couple. No longer have the link.) Personally, I find it stupid that Christa is simply taken away from her friend and then let her die. In addition to everything else, Historia also becomes pregnant.

How and why did she die now?

She went home with Reiner and Berthold. She had eaten the pine titan bearer 5 years ago when the 4 warriors were sent to destroy the walls Marlo Galliard. In season 2, Ymir then decided to go with Reiner and Berthold and bring the Marley the pine titan back. The new bearer of pine titan is Marlo's older brother Porco Galliard.

You don't know. Probably the guy who ate Ymir. You can only see it in the back, and since the hair is not "dark" I assume it is blonde
