I loved playing castlevania in my youth and because the anime is on Netflix I got curious and was looking for Castlevania the anime like crazy. My question is now is Alucard the same as in Van Helsing? I haven't dealt with the series yet but if there was a connection it would make the anime more tasty for me. Thought back then when it ran on MTV: hm… Möp… Rather not!
But now I'm curious!

So the anime, although I'm not sure if it's an anime, Castlevania I can definitely recommend you. I can't judge Van Helsing.
There's the novel "https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dracula_(Roman)" from 1897. There Prof. Van Helsing meets the vampire Count Dracula.
This novel and its characters were taken as inspiration for many other works in which vampires appear.
So the "Dracula" read backwards results in "Alucard". That is why powerful vampires are sometimes called "Dracula" or "Alucard" and vampire hunters "van Helsing".
That was really informative… I know a lot of novels, films and the like but I never thought about the name.
