Episode 2 of the Witcher on Netflix (SPOILERS ahead): The Aretuza boss transforms the 3 girls into eels, which Yennefer then has to push into the pond, Yen herself is spared. What does that mean? How has Yennefer passed the exams and will the others be punished? Or do I get something wrong?

The other 3 are turned into eels because Tissaia sees no greater benefit in them. You may be magically gifted, but average at best.

Yennefer, on the other hand, has passed a certain test outstandingly. She was supposed to shade Istredd and bring a flower (from Istredd) to Tissaia as proof of her loyalty. Yennefer did that too. Furthermore, it is of Elvish blood, so (even if it is difficult at first) it has a huge load of magical potential. Much more than your fellow students had.

Throwing the fellow students in water was another test to show where Yennefer's loyalty lay. She also passed this test.

Even if Yennefer failed in almost all of the lessons, she is the person with the most potential in the long term. Tissaia knew that.

Exactly, ok, in ep 7 that got a little clearer.
