I bought a TACX Genius T2021 roller trainer at a relatively cheap price. Unfortunately, as far as I have found out, this is not supported by the official side (Tacx / Garmin via app) or by the 3rd party (BigRingVR…).
Do you know any other solution how I could "get the trainer going"?
That's not enough for me for simple cycling at home and Netflix on the side (can't even influence the resistance of the role…)
Hm, that's stupid of course!
The iGenius communicates via a proprietary protocol and can only be used with the Tacx training software version 3 and 4.
Problem with this: the activation servers for this software are switched off, so you can no longer get them to work.
The only chance to operate the thing with "modern" software (protocol: ANT FE-C or Bluetooth) is to exchange the electronics. You would need the Tacx T2085 "iGenius upgrade". That turns the iGenius into a Genius Smart.
There's no longer anything new. Check out the relevant marketplaces to see if someone is selling a defective Genius Smart. Most of them do not have the electronics broken, but e.g. This role that presses against the tire is knocked out.
