Sony bravia TV set in 4k?

Or

Have had a Sony Bravia TV for a few months (I don't know the model, but it doesn't really matter because everyone has the same system). However, we don't have 4k.Netflix, normal channels, etc. I just found a function that means, mastered in 4k ". Think that you can watch everything in 4k. But that is off and I can't switch it on. If I try, it says" Available for HDMI inputs and Internet video ". What is what does it mean and what can I do?

ma

That you need an HDMI cable. Since your current cable is probably not intended for 4k

Va

, Available for HDMI inputs and Internet video "

It's clear, isn't it?

Search for a 4k video on YouTube or stream it via an HDMI connection.

Nah, that's a very bad thing…

Or

Yes, I already know that I need an HDMI cable, but where should I connect the two plugs, please? Or how can I watch Netflix in 4k?

Va

Read the link and try to understand it.

You can e.g. B. Connect a Blu Ray player via HDMI.

ma

Just that this is the truth😂

The Sony definitely has no setting, which is "mastered in 4k"; This means films that were subsequently edited for 4K. If you want to watch everything in 4K, a FullHD film from the TV must first be scaled up to 4k. The Sony does this automatically. In the Settings => View you can mark the selection that the image can be automatically adapted to the received signal (see also 'WIDE' mode there).
My Sony Bravia from 2019 doesn't know this mysterious "Available for HDMI inputs and internet video". HDMI input would be the connection of an external player (TV box / tuner), with Internet video e.g. YouTube, but not simply meant Netflix. Your Sony, whose type you want to keep from us, should actually have an APP for Netflix and also play 4K films from there. Is your TV a 4K / UHD at all? I don't think we can get here without his type designation.
Where did you find this function "mastered in 4K"? Do you have the latest software version? => PKG6.6545.0255 EUA

Thanks, very interesting. Unfortunately, my Sony XE9005 has no such settings, which also corresponds to the information from Sony in your link. My TV does it all automatically. The SYNC MENU is only there to control all connected devices with a remote control. Mastered in 4k "should only be able to play such mastered DVDs optimally. But this is only possible on real 4K TVs.
@ NEO34: if you don't have a 4K TV, you can't watch a 4K, whether original or (re-) mastered.

Or

But the setting is under display, image, advanced setting, clarity. The model is: KD-55XF9005

Or

TV is 4k but does not play on 4k and I have the app too

Thank you! I have now found it, also greyed out and then selected it with the pop-up "available for HDMI inputs and Internet video". Then I called up a 4K video on YouTube and again selected the greyed out "mastered in 4k", but the message "Available with input signal 1080" came up. The same was repeated for non-4K HD videos from YouTube (e.g. Tagesschau). I can't think of anything more…

Continuation:

I had just written in my comment about my functional tests on YouTube and quasi resigned. Now I have found out that you can activate the setting for "mastered in 4K" if you change the picture mode to CINEMA PRO or CINEMA HOME (instead of GAME, STANDARD, GRAPHICS etc.). I learned a lot from your question, thank you!
