I recently watched the "Biohackers" series on Netflix and wondered what subject the students were studying. I mean the subject where you change genes, make plants glow, and cover synthetic biology.
Bio… With a corresponding focus in the master's.
But actually you can't avoid such methods in any bio-direction. Whether you're catching bats in the field and examining their relatives, extracting funny substances for the Parma from plant samples and incorporating the gene into other cells for production, or whether you are assembling a virus for the medical community for gene therapy. Everything organic.
Many Thanks!
So the main character is a doctor. What is totally unrealistic, real medical students see the biology faculty only for the so-called medical internship, where they learn such general bio-things and are unfortunately often quite haphazard. The series is completely unrealistic. First time in the S3 safety laboratory, general laboratory safety rules are not observed, nobody breeds genetically modified organisms and is allowed to take them with them and much more. What they're learning is synthetic biology and genetics. Belongs to biology. You can do a bit at the end of your bachelor's degree, but actually that's the earliest master's subject. But it's really far from what you see on the show. For example, they also shot in the Audimax in Munich, although the series is set in Freiburg and a studio laboratory was built because the real thing didn't look like a laboratory enough to them.
There's also the study of biochemistry. There you will learn, among other things, geneticists, molecular biology and many other things that coincide with the one you mentioned.
Pure biology can only do this to a limited extent
Thanks!
Okay thanks!
Do you want to change organisms to your advantage?
Thanks!
