Netflix card can no longer be redeemed?

I had created a Netflix account with a 25 euro Netflix card a few months ago. Now it has expired and I bought a 50 euro card and wanted to reactivate the account. Now do you want me to create a payment account for it?
didn't I need one on the first card? Does anyone know why I need one now or whether I need one?
