Do I have to watch the series (Season 1-5) to be able to choose how to proceed?

What do you want to choose? Whether you are watching the show? Sure, you can determine that yourself. Otherwise, you will only see recorded movies as usual.
Do you mean this new film, where you can choose the storyline? You do not have to see the series for that. This is a story of its own.
