Why several directors on a series?

Why do you see some Netflix productions (including German series) that several directors are directing? Why isn't there just one director doing this?

Division of labor.

Presumably various scenes are filmed at the same time in different locations and a director can't be in all locations at the same time. By the way: A director doesn't shoot, he stages.
