Why are many (including Americans) so excited about the Netflix series Dark so special is not now?

So do not get me wrong. I also think Dark is great and for a German series it is of course outstanding… But on an international level, it's just a 0815 series as they are in heaps.

Why do not you all think so?

I did not see them but talked to several people who saw them. They all loved it.

But I wonder in general why some series are so extremely hyped. (E.g., Riverdale). A series does not have to be extremely good, it just has to entertain well.
