How do you interpret the end of Der Schacht (Netflix, spoiler alert)?

I'm sure the end is an allegory / metaphor, but what does it mean that the girl ends up going up in the elevator? In your opinion, is the film going well or badly?

Ultimately, Goreng died in the end and you don't know if the girl will do anything or just be removed from the shaft. The film itself is nothing more than a creatively wrapped critique of capitalism, but I didn't understand the meaning of the end in relation to capitalism…

Mo

I think they just imagined the girl.

And if not, I don't know if the message will do anything. In addition, the girl arrives dead, because nobody survives such a trip.

A good ending from the character's point of view because they think they have achieved their goal.

Ke

Well what would have really counted would have been if the system had been changed sustainably. Isn't exactly a rosy forecast for the future of capitalism haha.

Mo

Exactly. Unfortunately, it is not shown whether it did anything.

The film really leaves a lot of room for interpretation.

Ke

Is discussed intensely in other forums…

The girl is more of a symbol for the religion that, in addition to capitalism, which is also the subject of the film, determines our society. One could understand the child in such a way that it just came into being like Jesus, because according to the film there can be no children in the shaft. And like Jesus it is pure and without vice. It is the message and ascended to heaven like Jesus in the Bible. The man was not allowed to go up because he killed many people on his way to hell. Hell it is because there are 333 levels, there are 2 people on each level and there are a total of 666 people. 666 is a mythological number that represents hell and the devil. The child comes up and shows "God" that the shaft is "more".
