The film is about a little boy who lives with his family in Africa.
The family wanted to plant tobacco, which then didn't work out, then they wanted to plant maize, which was not possible because it was too wet because of the rainy season. The dry season came so it was too dry to plant maize.
The family starved like all the other residents.
The little boy, however, was very clever and built a pump that should pump up the water in the ground to them in order to plant food.
He taught himself all this with old books from a library.
To drive the pump he had to build a propeller where he needed some part from a bicycle (don't remember what this part was called) but his parents didn't want to give him the part because they thought he wouldn't make it anyway and because a Bike worth a lot true.
He managed to build the pump and it worked.
In the end he studied in, I think the USA because he was so smart.
