Naruto shippūden?

So I'm currently watching Naruto (the "old" series) on Netflix and would like to see Naruto shippuden afterwards. I'm not yet very familiar with it and wanted to ask whether shippuden is simply the continuation of Natuto, or rather a kind of "new edition" with the same storyline (from the beginning)?

This is the sequel as far as I know. Shippuden should appear on Netflix soon.

In the manga, the original work, it is a coherent story with the same name, only in anime does the series get a new name at a certain point.

Shippúden is the sequel to Naruto yes. Shippúden's action takes place two and a half years after Naruto
