Is Netflix stupid?

I want to download more episodes of a series and it says I've reached my annual download limit for that series. Can you get around that and what is it for?

For some series and films, downloads are limited to a certain number per year and account. If you want to watch the song again sooner, you need to connect to the Internet and stream the song. Otherwise, select a different title to download.

If it says you have reached the maximum number of downloads, you can't download any more. You could only get around it if you download the remaining series with a 2 battery, which also costs money to get a 2 battery.
