I'm just going through Naruto Classic and noticed that season 9 only has 8 episodes (on Netflix), but I don't think the season has only 8 episodes.

There isn't really a proper staging of Naruto. In Japan it is not common and long series are divided into seasons. Naruto is entirely a single season.
But because it is normal for us that longer series also have seasons, the companies here do it, but not always the same. For example, TV Now has 4 seasons and is still complete. Even if you have the same number of seasons, you still don't have the same sequence of episodes. In Crunchyroll, season 9 starts earlier.

So to make it short. The final episode 8 of the ninth season is the final episode of Naruto. After that, you can continue with Naruto Shippuden.
