I'm completely new to the genre and have only seen Death Note so far, which is why I still have a lot of catching up to do. I'm looking at Naruto (Classic, so the first), then I want to see Fullmettal Alchemist: Brotherhood (I started this before Naruto, but when I saw Naruto I decided to just watch this series and then Fullmettal Alchemist) , and then maybe Code Geass or Hunter x Hunter.
Take a look at Erased this anime is really really good and that also shows that in anime you don't just have to fight hard to make it exciting.
