I wanted to catch up on some classic films about Corona that I have never seen before. So I thought I would get a Netflix subscription. (Fortunately, 30 days free)

But somehow I was disappointed. Neither all parts of Hannibal, nor Forrest Gump or Schindler's list, etc. Are available.

Why aren't there such popular titles on Netflix?

Or are they still coming?

I suspect that is due to the low demand from the young target group relevant to Netflix.

I also asked a similar question. By the way, very good question.

Netflix has been around since 1997 but was not that well known back then. Netflix only really became known in the 2010s and started producing films in 2013.

Classics like Kevin Alone at Home are 30 years old and have been given this title because everyone still knows the film after 30 years, even the children of today's generation.

It may have been on Netflix, but not now.

After all, the owners of Netflix want a library that is not crowded, but varied. That's why the films and series come and go.

The Supernatural series e.g. Was on Netflix from the beginning, but eventually it was deleted, although the series is very popular and was not yet finished at the time.

I once described a film as desirable - and it was there 3 weeks later

There are many, like Goodfellas, The Convicted, Jurassic Park, Scarface, The Silence of the Lambs, …

Streaming sites can't have every movie because it would be too expensive. In addition, some film labels want to make their own streaming platforms in the future and therefore do not want their films to be shown on streaming sites (e.g. Disney now also has a streaming service).

Another reason is probably the lack of demand from the younger users. That's why there are more popular series on Netflix, because today's youth often prefer to watch series.

But there are more and more classics on Netflix! For example, Goodfellas or The Convicted did not exist there until a few weeks ago
