I'm an anime fan and I like to watch series.
When I started with piracy 2 years ago I wasn't really aware that it was really illegal (I'm 18 now).
Until a few days ago I was watching anime that are not currently available in Germany and are also a bit older.
Now I have just read that the .to pages will close, will people like me be searched for or how is that?
The fear is of course great, it is not so that I would not support the industry because I regularly buy anime myself as dvd or blueray or manga or that I have something like a Netflix and disney + account with my available money up to 2 weeks ago even a 2 month long subscription to anime on demand and crunchyroll.
Only the selection was so big that there were anime that I didn't like.
So again the question is:
Is it really going to be searched for me or how will it work?
I read an article from anime2you.de and really got a stomach ache…
Nothing happens there.
They can already find you, but it is unlikely (if you have not registered on the site), because mainly those who uploaded it will be followed.
It is extremely unlikely that you will be caught and prosecuted. In the future, just look up where which title is running (you may need to switch to English subtitles, there's even more choice).
Anime that are not offered on any German streaming platform will not be prosecuted, even if it is illegal, but where there's no plaintiff there's no judge. The German anime industry loses far too little money through series that do not exist in Germany anyway. However, if possible, I would watch all series that are on the platforms under subscription, because it supports the industry and they then have more money for the licenses and if you watch so many, the 5 euro-10 euro doesn't hurt. With German licenses you have to be careful, with the rest it doesn't matter.
(still illegal)
