Romance does not play the main role for everyone, but at least a secondary role. These series are definitely recommended. At least I liked them.
I'd take a look at Pretty Little Liars. It's not in the direction of fantasy like TVD, but it's really dramatic and romantic, but primarily exciting and mysterious.
Otherwise I would recommend you. If you like Pretty Little Liars, you will too.
Otherwise the spin offs from Vampire Diaris. The Originals and Legacies, but are not on Netflix.
