Should you watch the Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood before you watch the normal Full Metal alchemist?

I wanted to check out the series but there are two Full Metal alchemists on Netflix

»https://www.anisearch.de/anime/2519,hagane-no-renkinjutsushi« was created before the original work, the manga on which the series is based, was completed. Accordingly, at a certain point you have thought up your own plot, which differs greatly from the manga.

»https://www.anisearch.de/anime/5048,hagane-no-renkinjutsushi-2009« is then a new edition of the series, which sticks to the plot of the manga.

So both anime stand on their own and start at the beginning of the story.
So you don't have to start with FMA, but it's worth looking at both.

Al

To be honest, I don't know why.

But I don't want to badmouth the FMA.

Ma

No, the series are practically independent of each other. Brotherhood came out later and is based a lot more on the Manga, while Fullmetal Alchemist changes the story a lot over time

Fr

As ChrisCat1 already said. I recommend you watch Brotherhood.

Ro

Yes, you should, as it is the better work.

But not if you believe the ratings on https://myanimelist.net/...&cat=anime. 😜🙈

Ro

Yeah, my ranking from FMA. Is a 4/10 while FMA is 8/10.

So you "should" not have seen FMA in order to be able to follow the action or the storyline, but at most to be able to get an idea of what you personally consider to be better?!

Whether you are now FMA first. Or FMA is watching is completely irrelevant, isn't it? 😉

Ro

FMA is wrongly talked about badly by many, BECAUSE IT DOESN'T REPRESENT THE MANGA. So many just watch FMAB.

And that's why you should first look at the FMA, because then you have seen FMAB or FMA with an open mind.

So personally, I think FMA. So far right… Hmm, how should I put it? Maybe so… NAJA!

I will then also approve the FMA… Of course, just for comparison.

Personally, whether an anime sticks to the template is actually a relatively tough one for me. It just has to be good / interesting. I don't care about anything else. As with book adaptation too! 😉
