Because for content that is not produced by Netflix itself, the licenses expire and therefore they disappear from the platform. You should always keep in mind that any content could disappear at some point, but you can also google when something expires

What does it mean when a license expires?

For example, Netflix pays a license to any other company / film studio / film distributor that has the trademark rights, i.e. A fee that they are allowed to play the film on Netflix. You can think of it as a rental. You rent the film or series in order to be able to play it as content. Usually, there's always a time limit. For example, the film disappears again six months later, unless it is viewed so often and it is simply worthwhile for Netflix to extend the license.
I think that's not all 100% correct, but roughly as you can imagine how it works.
I don't know how popular your series was. It may also be that Netflix saw that they only look at very few people, so of course it is stupid if they continue to pay a license for it, i.e. A fee even though nobody is looking at it. That is sometimes a reason to take the series out of the program early and to start something else again.

Certainly you also buy certain content, but then you have to be very sure that it is, for example, a top title that is always popular because otherwise it is not worth it. They drive better to rent the content because they can take it out of the offer again if this film is no longer popular.
